We’re getting closer – 5 days to go
As we get closer and closer to returning to our sport facilities on campus, we continue to work hard to ensure that everything is in place to support our colleagues, students and customers when we open our doors. We will be on site in 5 days time with a limited number of colleagues on site to deal with any queries you have with our reception opening to provide additional support..
Colleagues will be on site from 1st September with facilities starting to re-open from Monday 7th September.
We appreciate that everyone has lots of questions around what the new normal may look like but rest assured, we will continue to provide a positive sport and physical activity experience this year.
A reminder of changes to keep us safe
In addition to our phased approach to reopening of our facilities, the following advice is to support you being safe:
- Pre-book your session online
- Keep a safe distance and follow our directional signage around the buildings
- Wash or sanitise your hands before, during and after activities
- Wipe down your equipment using the wipes provided
- Stay at home if you feel unwell
- Leave as soon as you finish your session

The gym will re-open on Monday 7th September. We have limited the number of people allowed in the gym at once and moved our equipment around to provide you with a safe amount of space to train.
All sessions are also booked online in advance so make sure you book in prior to attending the facility.

Can I use changing facilities?
Changing rooms won’t be available when we reopen in line with industry guidance. People should attend the facility with the minimum amount of belongings and attend ready to take part in their booked activity.
Will there be toilets available?
Yes toilets will be available to users of the facility, and accessible toilets will also be available. Facilities available will vary depending on activity as we will be using certain facilities for outdoor users and others for indoor users. Signage will be on site to point you in the right direction.
Where can I leave my belongings when training?
We are asking all everyone to leave bags and any other belongings outside of the building that are not necessary for your activity. Lockers will not be available so there will not be anywhere to store anything on site and we do not allow bags in our gyms to ensure that the space is clear and safe for use. We are also asking everyone to come ready for their activity.
What rules do I need to follow?
We are asking all customers to maintain a distance of 2 metres when undertaking activities and moving around the building and our colleagues will be asking people to maintain this when around the facility. We have marked walkways and directional signage in place to keep everyone safe and guide you between different areas.
We will also be providing hand sanitiser for use before and after activities in addition to requiring everyone to wear a face covering when moving around the facility. You do not need to wear your face covering when taking part in an activity however.
Are spaces limited for activities?
Yes. All our activities have been assessed to provide the appropriate space based on industry guidance.
This will see some capacities for sessions reduced and is an important reason to book for sessions in advance. Obviously with limited space available, we are asking everyone to be fair in cancelling any sessions that cannot be attended and only book sessions that you are planning to attend. We will be operating a fair use policy in terms of policing this to ensure that everyone gets an equal opportunity to be active this September.
