On Sunday, 18 May 2025, UoM Sport and Manchester Met Sport came together and entered over 1,000 runners into the Great Manchester Run 10k as part of the Purplewave and Team Orange.

Thank you to every runner, volunteer, organiser and supporter who helped make this event special. We were thrilled to be joined by the University of Manchester’s President and Vice-Chancellor, Duncan Ivison, who cheered on runners and celebrated the incredible community spirit.

The impact of this event went beyond the finish line, with over £16,000 raised in support of student access and success, and cancer research at the University of Manchester. This event embraced the spirit and support of the University community, whilst allowing people to get active and enjoy exercising outdoors. Everyone had a great day in the wonderful Manchester sunshine.
