Improving Wellbeing has a link to both feeling and functioning better. It helps with physical health, performance at work and study and overall quality of life.


Based on research by the New Economics Foundation, the University has identified the Manchester Ways to Wellbeing: 6 actions to build into your day-to-day life in order to feel good and function well.

Your wellbeing is important

Your Wellbeing is not only about physical health, exercise or nutrition. It is about the whole you and how you nurture all areas of physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

The University of Manchester is developing its Wellbeing framework and holds a number of Wellbeing events throughout the year.

In addition to the Wellbeing events The University of Manchester Counselling Service run an extensive timetable of free group workshops that help support your mental wellbeing as well as your physical health. These sessions usually take place in the Wellbeing Rooms 1.63 and the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons
