The University of Manchester have regained their Christie Championship shield after a confident show, secured countless winning performances, across a spectrum of sports.
Christie Championships, is the oldest inter-University competition after the Oxbridge boat race, and is a highlight on the sporting calendar of the 3 participating universities: Manchester, Leeds and this year’s hosts Liverpool.
Despite the treacherous weather conditions making play very difficult, more than 100 matches were played and 20 different sports represented on the day.
With wins from Cricket and Men’s volleyball already in the bag and a great start from Ski, Hockey and Lacrosse it wasn’t long before Manchester had the Championships firmly in their grasp.
The weather certainly hadn’t dampened spirits, as a lively crowd of anxious athletes waited to hear the final results. But the hard work had paid off and a celebrations began as Manchester were crowed Champions once again!
