Canoe

Everything you need to know about canoe at the University of Manchester.

About

We currently offer canoe through our sport club programme. Our University of Manchester American Canoe Club works hard to provide opportunities for players both new to the sport and within our BUCS programme to support those who want to perform in high level university competition. Whilst we don’t currently offer canoe through our Sporticipate or our Sport League programmes, we are constantly reviewing how we can get more students involved in sport.

All the information you need to know about canoe should be here but if you do have any further questions, we would love to hear from you.

Canoe Club

MUCC is focused around providing an affordable, relaxed and supportive way to enter the exciting sport of kayaking – we offer weekly pool sessions and polo training, as well as the opportunity to paddle whitewater rivers around the country, compete in national Canoe Slalom competitions and take part in local and national Canoe Polo tournaments. We have trips throughout the year, from regular day trips and weekend trips, to a week in Scotland during Easter and a trip to the Alps in Summer! We’re open to all paddling abilities, even if you’ve never been in a boat before but we also provide the facilities for experienced paddlers to expand their skillset and gain coaching qualifications through the club. Not to mention our variety of regular and creative socials that bring all aspects of the club together as one happy family! There’s only one club at university that can safely equip you to paddle off waterfalls within your first year of joining, and that’s us – why not give it a go? If only for the instagram pic.

Club Philosophy

One of the friendliest and most welcoming clubs, MUCC is all about discovering a new sport and a new family during university. Everyone is welcome at each training session, event or social that the club holds and the comradery amongst members cannot be rivalled! As a sport society, the club competes at a high level at three BUCS events annually, improving results year-on-year; however, our biggest success is in the progression of both new and experienced paddlers in their kayaking ability. This culminates in competing in regular events and gaining valuable qualifications. We’re passionate about paddling, never take ourselves too seriously and invite everyone to join in the fun, both in and out of boats.
