Manchester Varsity 2024

Manchester Varsity 2024

Explore the heart of Varsity at The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University as we introduce the 2024 Pilot Varsity Series during our bicentennial celebrations. This collaboration aims to enhance the visibility of sports within the university and across the community.

In April 2024, Varsity Week, 22 – 28 will feature fixtures for Basketball, Netball, Swimming, Football, and Rugby Union at our Manchester venues. Inspired by successful city Varsity events, this marks the first coordinated multi-sport competition between our institutions.

Fixtures

Gear up for an exciting Varsity Week, 22-28 April 2024, where the Armitage Centre, Platt Lane, and the Aquatics Centre will host intense matchups between Manchester Metropolitan University and The University of Manchester. Join us for the celebration.

Rules and Regulations

Each sports fixture will follow the standard BUCS regulations for that sport with some slight adaptations that can be found within the Sport specific regulations (can link to doc as required) for each fixture and has been agreed between each University in advance. This includes the process for identifying the winner in each fixture in the event of a draw (eg Penalty shootout in the Football). Any disputes will be dealt with by relevant representatives from the organising committee, which will be made up of the 2 x Student Lead Officers and the 2 x identified Senior Managers from both institutions.

The winning University of each fixture will achieve 1 point towards their institutions Varsity total. The University who wins at least 4 points will be crowned the winners of the 2024 Varsity Series.
