About
The aim of our society is to provide a safe and friendly environment for learning the skills of this unique art, which brings together physical and mental training in all aspects of Taekwon-Do – the practical self-defense and the sport.
Sessions:
Monday 6 – 7 PM, The Armitage Centre
Thursday 5:45 – 7 PM, The Sugden Centre
You can choose to train once per week or as many times as you like at both venues.
You do not need to have any previous experience at all as everything is taught from scratch.
We also have more advanced classes, so please ask about these if you have trained in TaeKwon-Do before.
Generally speaking, The TaeKwon-Do taught at this club is quite a varied martial art covering:
Self defence against various grabs and attacks – learning how to release and then if necessary to control & restrain the attacker. Striking techniques such as punching, thrusting, elbow and knee strikes are also taught and developed using a variety of pad-work.
The psychology of self-protection and assertiveness training is also part of the training.
Physically – progressive improvement in fitness, toning, core area conditioning, strength and flexibility are part of the ongoing classes.
There is also a fair amount of deep breathing exercises, relaxation techniques and some of the moral philosophy from the origins of Taekwon-Do.
Fitness, coordination and flexibility training are weaved into the lessons so you will improve in these areas each week
This gives it a great balance of exhilarating physical training with emotional balance taken into account, and also the opportunity to meet some genuinely friendly people.
